17.7% of people in Jasper County don’t know where their next meal is coming from, which is called food insecurity. We serve approximately 400 families a month by appointment, which includes older adults with limited income and families with children that are food insecure. During their appointment, clients can shop for a grocery cart of food, including diapers if needed and feminine hygiene products if available. At the end of their shopping trip, if they would like prayer, they have the opportunity to receive prayer.
Every Wednesday, we hold equipping classes, serve a hot meal and give out a food box to 80-100 clients. While they are enjoying a hot meal, we get the opportunity to speak hope, build a trust relationship with them and give directive counsel that has the potential to change their lives.
The purpose of Feeding Incorporated is to feed, equip, empower and restore hope to those who are living in poverty and others who are temporarily in need. We are not here to enable, but to empower with resources, encouragement and practical help through the provision of food, diapers, teaching and training. Changed lives change communities and Feeding Inc. is meeting a need in this region.
