Breaking cycles of poverty and homelessness in Midcoast Maine
Homelessness is a complex issue with many underlying causes, including systemic origins such as poverty and lack of affordable housing. Blaming individuals for their own homelessness not only ignores these larger issues but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes. It’s important to address the root causes of homelessness and provide holistic support and resources to individuals and families so they can become stable contributing members of our community.
As the only comprehensive homeless services organization in our approximately 2000 square mile coverage area, we’re achieving incredible results in breaking the cycle of homelessness, innovating and collaboration around affordable housing and deepening our capacity to reach whole families through our family shelter and youth program.
