The Albany Fire Department is a modern, all-hazards fire department equipped with enhanced regional hazmat and water rescue capabilities. With members trained extensively in their respective fields, we maintain high standards of fire and life safety within our area of operation.
Our primary function is to save lives and property by fighting and preventing fires through fire prevention efforts such as inspections, code enforcement, education, as well as arson investigation and prosecution. Our responsibilities are defined in the City Charter and state statutes. This department consists of five divisions: Administration, Operations, Fire Prevention, Fire Training, and Emergency Management. The department operates eleven fire stations in order to provide the quickest response time possible for our residents.
