We have 71 fire-rescue stations within unincorporated Miami-Dade County and serve 29 municipalities. We have response units dedicated to air rescue service, ocean rescue, fire and rescue operations, marine, hazardous materials (HazMat), urban search and rescue (US&R), technical rescue, and venom response.
Our rescue services include aero-medical transport to trauma centers and other medical facilities. Our air rescue helicopters are also used to perform search and rescue missions, and firefighting and reconnaissance operations involving large incidents, such as wildfires and major fires.
We also have full-time and part-time professional lifeguards protecting Haulover and Crandon beaches.
We support disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation needs. We operate the County’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC) which coordinates emergency response and recovery plans, decisions, and operations in order to maximize the use of resources within Miami-Dade County.
