The Winsted YMCA’s Winchester Emergency Shelter program offers emergency housing and case management services to men, women and families experiencing homelessness in and around Litchfield County. At WES, we work with guests to improve their health, financial stability and connections to community resources, so that they can resolve their homelessness as quickly as possible.
In 2022, the shelter served 87 adults and children who laid their heads down for a safe night’s sleep 4,194 times across our 16 beds. On average, our guests exited the program to a safe housing destination within 47 days.
In order to access WES or any other shelter in the State of Connecticut, you must contact the United Way Help Line at 2-1-1. If you or someone you know is experiencing a housing crisis, please call 2-1-1 today to schedule your intake.
