IOM Sudan works to support migrants, displaced populations, and communities in Sudan to realise their full potential in an inclusive, equitable and peaceful environment where in national and local authorities pursue effective migration management and governance in support of migrants and communities in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) and the African Union 2063 Agenda.

In Sudan, IOM works across a wide range of migration-related work in close cooperation with government, national and international partners to achieve:

  • Safe and orderly migration and strong migration systems that protect migrants.
  • Advocacy for inclusive approaches for both migrants and displaced populations, especially those marginalised or in situations of vulnerability.
  • Strong community institutions and strong voices, particularly of the marginalised, especially women and youth.
  • Resolution, mitigation, and transformation of inter-communal conflict and building community-level capacities for durable solutions and the transition to peace.
  • Preparation for and provision of timely life-saving responses to the sudden onset of disasters as well as other protracted and complex crises with mobility dimensions within Sudan.
  • Collection and dissemination of robust and accessible data and championing of evidence-based policy decision making.
