FIDA-Kenya is a premier women’s rights organization in Kenya that has offered free legal aid to over 3,000,000 women over the course of 37 years We are committed to creating a society that respects and upholds women’s rights with a mission to promote women’s individual and collective power to claim their rights in all spheres of life. FIDA-Kenya is a membership organization with over 1,400 women advocates and lawyers in Kenya
Over the years, FIDA-Kenya has handled litigation on custody and maintenance matters, land and matrimonial property disputes, labor and economic rights, participated in advocacy around women in political participation, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child and Forced Marriage, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, protecting the land of female immigrant workers among others.
Similarly, the organization conducts education and advocacy programs that positively impact on structural, institutional, and legal reforms within Kenya to ensure gender sensitivity and responsiveness.
