The CRADLE is a non-partisan and non-governmental organization working on child rights in Kenya with a focus on child protection and child justice. In its over 20 years of service, the organization has distinguished itself in litigating child rights; legislative advocacy; community mobilization; child participation; and monitoring and documenting child rights for policy and legislative intervention. Indeed to many, the word “child protection” has almost become synonymous with The CRADLE.
The organization has contributed largely towards a better legislative and institutional framework for children. As one of two organizations on child rights, the organization ensured that provisions relating to child rights were for the first time entrenched constitutionally. The CRADLE has also been instrumental in the passage of several laws protective of children. It has also contributed at the International and regional level with bodies such as the UNCRC Committee, the AU Committee on Children and with the UN and other agencies on ensuring a better world for children.
