Navachetana was founded in 1991 and formally registered as a Trust in 1996 to offer a safe, hygienic, supportive and comfortable home for those abandoned by their families. It is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising of two members, who are prominent and highly respected individuals in the field of mental health, social work and counselling.
Founded by Mrs. Lissy Gregory, a woman of determination, who came to Bengaluru in 1990. Through her work Lissy has witnessed the urgent need for safe shelter for those who are abandoned with mental health problems and seen the benefits when offered a supportive, healthy and peaceful life in a loving family atmosphere.
Navachetana has sheltered men and women suffering from Manic Depression, Psychosis Neurosis, Paranoia, Schizophrenia and other Psychological and Pathological cases, from different parts of India.
