We have a permanent presence in Honduran territory to address the priorities for guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents.
As part of its vision, the Honduran State aims for a country without extreme poverty, without violence, and with an educated and healthy population. Through its program, UNICEF supports national efforts to achieve this long-term goal, focusing on the most disadvantaged children, primarily rural, Indigenous, and Afro-Honduran children.
Another of the country’s objectives is to achieve a modern, transparent, accountable, efficient, and competitive State that can respond to the problems of its population. As a contribution, UNICEF will assist the State in the formulation and evaluation of public policies aimed at children through evidence generation and knowledge management. UNICEF will also support the State in inter-institutional coordination to consolidate a comprehensive system for the protection of children’s rights.
