The Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador in its article 158 states that “… internal protection and the maintenance of public order are the private functions of the State and the responsibility of the National Police … “.
By virtue of this, the same norm in its article 163 establishes the mission of the National Police , this missionary commitment is based on the professional work of policemen and women through the provision of an effective service and respect for human rights, which is evident in trust, transparency, credibility and legitimacy before the citizens, through the control and prevention of crime through the Components of preventive management: service to the community, investigation of the offense, anti-crime intelligence, operational management, control and evaluation.
