The Ronald McDonald House helps boys and girls to continue with their medical treatment at the National Children’s Hospital along with their family.
We are a home away from home for thousands of children and their families who need to be close to the National Children’s Hospital to continue their medical treatment.
In Costa Rica, the first Ronald McDonald House in the country opened its doors on March 5, 2014. Since then, the Ronald McDonald House has become a “home-away-from-home” for hundreds of families traveling to San José so that their children can receive the medical care they so desperately need.
Thanks to this program, RMHC is able to keep families with sick children close to them and the medical care they require. On average, the House receives 100 families per month, who stay approximately 9 nights and receive around 1,350 food services during their stay. To help with the operations of this program and provide the best care to families, our volunteers have donated more than 16,000 hours of their time.
