The Adelaide Benevolent Society has a long history of helping people get back on their feet; most notably through the depressed years of the late 1880s and 1890s and during the world wars of the early 20th Century.
The Adelaide Benevolent Society is an independent not-for-profit organisation that has been providing affordable housing and financial assistance to disadvantaged South Australians since 1849.
Since renting and subsequently buying its first cottages in 1869, the Adelaide Benevolent Society has steadily grown its property portfolio to around 250 houses and units across Adelaide. These properties are rented out at below market rates to low-income individuals, families and new arrivals to the state.
In addition to the provision of subsidised accommodation, the Society also assists people with the cost of utilities and helps in cases of unforeseen emergency.
Safe and secure housing and the ability to provide for yourself and your family are basic human requirements and something Adelaide Benevolent is committed to helping more people achieve.
