The Akron Fire Department exists to protect the lives, property, and environment within our community by minimizing the impact of fire, medical emergencies, and hazardous conditions.
We will accomplish this mission by providing:
- Fire suppression forces capable of mitigating all fire events
- An Emergency Medical System designed to provide excellent prehospital care
- Enforcement of fire codes, investigation of fire cause, and public education
- Special operation teams trained for hazardous material response, technical rescues, water emergencies, and tactical EMS
