MALTA began as an effort to feed, clothe and encourage people experiencing homeless on the streets of New London. Never losing sight of that basic mission, MALTA continues to reach people living outdoors or in shelters in Southeastern Connecticut, as well as through other area charitable organizations. Volunteer-based, MALTA operates 52 weeks a year.

Our mission is to help people retain or regain a sense of dignity and hope, while helping them navigate difficult circumstances. While we address immediate needs beginning with food, clothing and love, MALTA also assists connecting people to additional resources available in the community. These connections affect the whole person and produce better outcomes.
