The primary goal of the Lyons Police Department is fourfold:
- To create and maintain close and ongoing communication with the citizens of this community to direct resources toward their areas of critical concern.
- To increase accountability to the citizens and their elected representatives by closer integration of the planning and budgeting process with community input.
- To maintain a closely-knit but flexible operational style which can respond to emergencies and unexpected issues.
- To be a proponent of and to implement community-oriented policing throughout the department and the community.
