The GBWS is a homeless shelter for boys aged between 8 – 16 in District 1, Ho Chi Minh city. We have been working for the last 22 years, together with local authorities, police and social workers, to identify, care for, and relocate homeless male children. Our children come from a variety of difficult situations, be it abuse, exploitation or abandonment, those whose parents are dead/in prison/suffer from mental illness/have drug addictions, runaways, and those whose families aren’t able to support them for any other reason.
Once in our care the boys get a roof over their heads, regular meals, a paid education, healthcare, counseling (if necessary), recreational actives, family reconciliation (where appropriate) community integration, and a secure and safe environment surrounded by understanding peers, to live, grow and mature in. The shelter houses, feeds and educates anywhere from 10 to 20 boys at a time providing them with everything they need for a comfortable life.
